Close up of one of the welds. This is the area I trimmed.

Here is the swivel ball welded on. Update:If I were doing this again, I would not use this type of swivel ball. See below for the recommended type.

Update: Here is the type of ball joint I would use. This image came from Wicks Aircraft’s website. The reason I would use this type is that it should allow more swivel than the one I used. On the left side, the ball joint is fine. On the right, I’m right at the limit of movement for the ball joint. I think I’ll probably need to replace it.
