30 Jun 2005 Removing radiators
The radiators needed to come off, since there is an upgrade for them. I’ll need to mail these back, which will cost an arm and a leg. Shipping from CH to the USA is about 4-5x more expensive than the other way around. I don’t get it, but what can I do. Usually I try to save up stuff until I fly over there, and deliver it by hand. It’s almost cheaper to fly over with heavy articles in my bag, than to ship them. Anyway, I digress.
Here you can see another reason to remove them, so that I can fit the cowl. Actually, since the F821PP is not yet riveted on, I can’t do much with the cowl yet.
Here is the other side.
Some 8-32 screws are used to hold the radiator on. The mounting plate is threaded, and then the screws are installed. A nut holds the radiator and radiator cowl on. I don’t like using philips head screws for anything, and these screws don’t look like aviation screws. I will be replacing them.
Another shot.
Here is where the cooling fluid is supposed to be drained. I just drained from the resevoir, since it is not yet attached to the firewall. I got out about 4.5 liters.
Here is the NPG+ (I think) and the radiators to be sent back.
Another shot of those pesky philips head screws.
What is this sensor? I can only speculate that it measures OAT.
