11 Feb 2004 Rudder Cables
I’m not finished with the wings, but I’ve done as much as I can until I can get some stuff primed. I’ve decided to start on the fuselage, and if I understand the rather cryptic plans correctly, the first step for us QBers is to run the rudder cables.
Having a look down the fuselage, it seems like I’ll have some fun getting in there to thread the cables!
Actually, it’s not too bad. What I did was just lay some 1x1s in there for a bit of stability, and then I just carefully got into the fuselage, with my shoes off. Of course, it’s pretty cold in my shop, about 9c, so that was fun.
I got it done, as you can see in the following photos.
One open question for Van’s is do these last holes get grommets or not? There are a total of 16 holes for grommets, and Van’s only supplied 15, so something is strange.
