I’m just now starting on the cowl. I got some serious hints from J. Daniels on how to do it. He’s got a great site.
The first thing I’ve decided to do is to try to make the top of the cowl flat, and to trim it up so that the round part where the spinner goes has half the circle at the top, and the other half on the bottom.
This involved putting the cowl on a flat surface, drawing a nice straight line around the whole cowl, and then sanding it down flush with the line.

now for the sanding. Lots of fun! Glad the shop is only about 17°C!
Interesting – the angle of the offset on the cowl does not match the angle of the offset of my engine. Looks like some work will need to be done on one or both…
