02 Oct 2021 Two spot welding failures
I recently had the second failure of something that was “spot welded”. Below you can see a heat shield that used spot welding to attach the fastening bracket, and it failed. I found the shield in the bottom of the cowl. Previously, the spot welds on my heater value had failed, and I repaired it using stainless steel rivets.
Spot welding this kind of material is pretty cheap, but it looks like it’s not very reliable.
