08 Feb 2004 Working on the wings
The first step in the QB is to finish up the wings. 90+% has been done by our team in the Philippines, but they left us a few things to finish up. The belcranks, pushrods, one skin, the fuel level senders, and the fuel return line for fuel injected engines are all things that need to be done. Not to mention the wing tips, fuel tank sump, and any desired wiring for lights. They estimate it will take about a week of work, and this seems accurate to me.
One thing I mentioned to Van’s is that there are about 22 rivets on the wings that need to be drilled out. It seems the boyz down south got a bit carried away with their riveting and added some that need to be empty to connect the aileron fairings and the flap braces. Not a big deal, but while striving for perfection, I hope that Van’s passes this information on to the QB team. They do good work, I must say.
