Used a 20N kitchen cabinet door support for my baggage door support and it worked great.  Same kind of thing you would see on an Ikea kitchen cabinet door up high.  I tried 100N, then 50N, and then 20N.  The 20N was just right.  The others were too strong.  I only dropped the door on my head once during the install, and it didn’t bleed very much, thankfully!

Ended up with the thick part of the strut on top. Works really well. These cost about $5 on eBay for a pair.  They pop off very easily with a flat screwdriver, and snap on easily.
