09 Jan 2005 Com Antenna installation
The com antenna installation went without a problem. I spent more time trying to find the “perfect” place for it than actually installing it. In the end I decided to put it just a bit inboard of the passenger’s right footwell.
Used the backing plate to mark the holes.
Drilled the holes, and installed the antenna. I lost a lock washer, and had to replace one nut with a nylok nut.
View from the bottom right.
View from the tail, underneath. Not sure why the colors look so strange.
View of the RV-142+ cable that I used. I put the coax connector on, and used a bit of heat shrink to give it a bit more strength.
Notice the slight bend to the rear on the cable so that it will clear the aileron pushrod. The cable is fastened to the starter cable on the other side of the spar box.
